Spring Break 2015!!!!!!!
To close out the 2014-2015 season, we booked a mid March trip to Frisco. Frisco is 1 exit further into the mountains than our old haunt Silverthorne, but about 40 minutes closer to Denver than our new haunt of Beaver Creek/Avon. The nearest resort is Copper mountain, but it’s in also in close proximity to Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Loveland.
It was hot.
Kansas, being terrible in new and exiting ways.
The highs on the slopes were pushing 65 degrees. It was proper spring skiing. Slush and sunburn. Despite the temperatures, Keystone was reporting 5″ of snow overnight so we skied there for the first time in several years.
Mashed Potatoes.
It was difficult skiing in the heavy snow, but we had fun anyway. Jen even found occasion to break the rules!
Rule breaker.
We had dinner at Prost, a German restaurant in Frisco. In addition to being quite good, we bumped into a coworker of Jen’s. She was in town visiting her parents.
They were kind enough to invite to a dinner party the following night… Perfect timing for Jen’s birthday! Spring skiing at Vail, and a birthday party. Not a bad day at all.
Showing off for the birthday girl
We made the drive to Loveland for a demo day of ON3P skis.
Loveland is an old time ski area with slow lifts and vintages lodges at the base. It’s also one of the highest ski areas (13,000′ elevation). Much like the rest of the trip, it was hot… but the views were great. Jen even liked the skis so much we decided to buy a pair. Not a bad way to end the season… Getting prepared for next!
