I’ve decided to give our visit to the Minnesota State Fair it’s own entry. It’s just too overwhelming to not be self contained. So overwhelming in fact, we could have spent a few more days at it and still not have seen everything.
Obviously, we immediately started with the food. If it can be fried or put on a stick, they have it. We had pork chops and donuts for breakfast… and it was delicious.
Later on we had some cookies and cheese curds. As it turns out, fried cheese is devilishly good.
Jen wasn’t brave enough for waffles on a stick.
The only food downside was that Jen wasn’t allowed to eat any of the prize winning food. They had everything from cakes, to fruit, to pickled vegtables and cinnamon buns.
They even had more types of honey than I even knew existed.
After that we went to the livestock show.
Jen petted a cow! It didn’t go quite as well as she had hoped because it swatted her with it’s tail, causing her to jump and scream. All the farm people found this WILDLY entertaining and the entire barn was laughing.
Joey the pig must have died, because this guy was the replacement. He only weighed 1,200 pounds. Jen was unamused.
They had some less intimidating (and stinky) animals in the Butterfly House.
Did I say less aggressive? Jen still got attacked. (Editor’s note: It’s because she is so sweet. Clearly.)
We caught a Wanda Jackson show and then explored the rides, games, and everything else. We stopped taking pictures after awhile because it was so overwhelming!
I did snap a quick picture of the freak show though!
There is one last note though… This woman clearly enjoyed the food even more than we did. She loaded up her stroller with so many fries that she had to carry her baby.
[…] the crap out of Ted Drewe’s. Our trip turned out to be largely about eating and shopping (other than the state fair that I gave it’s own entry), so it’s on to the shopping! The Mall of America was obviously a draw for making the trip in […]
